A Councillor's Pledge

Community Safety

A safe community is a strong community. I have worked to strengthen community safety in Ward 1 by establishing boots on the ground Community Intervention Response Team (CIRT) policing to the south end, supporting Neighbourhood Watch and bringing the new 14 Division to our Ward to better serve our community. I will continue working with Peel Regional Police, Neighbourhood Watch groups and residents on crime prevention and ensuring Ward 1 gets its fair share of public safety resources.

Fiscal Responsibility & Efficiencies

I believe residents expect City Hall to live within its means and deliver value for every tax dollar. I will continue looking for efficiencies and making sure spending makes sense, while ensuring the funding formula is fair and properly reflects the significant population changes across Peel. Ward 1 deserves its fair share of investment, and I will continue to challenge unnecessary spending and ensuring our investments are focused on the services, infrastructure and amenities residents need, while protecting the quality of life that makes Ward 1 such a great place to live.

Traffic & Road Safety

Since the day I was first elected, I have made traffic calming and road safety a priority, and I am proud to serve as Chair of the City’s Road Safety Committee. From speed humps and traffic-calming measures to pedestrian improvements and safer crossings, we have made significant progress in Ward 1. I will continue to ensure we have measures that make our streets safer for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

The Arts - New Places & Opportunities

The arts are an essential part of a vibrant and connected community. As Chair of the Mayor’s Arts & Museum Advisory Committee, I have championed investment in local arts and culture, working with stakeholders and City staff on the Creative Advantage plan. I will continue working to create new opportunities for artists, cultural organizations and residents, while supporting new places to experience and celebrate the arts in Mississauga.

A Plan For Our Future

A Safer Community

  • 14 Division in Lakeview will bring a major new Peel Regional Police presence to our community, with approximately 600 officers serving from the new division.

  • A new Fire Station on Dixie Road will improve emergency response times and ensure our community has the emergency services it needs.

  • Continue investing in traffic calming and neighbourhood safety, including measures that make our streets safer for pedestrians, cyclists, drivers and families.

Bringing the Waterfront Back to Life

  • Putting the Port back in Port Credit with a new marina that reconnects our community with its waterfront and strengthens Port Credit as a destination.

  • Advance plans for a new City-owned music venue in Port Credit, creating a home for live music, local artists and community events to add to the Lakeshore Arts Corridor.

  • Continue adding new parkland along the waterfront, creating more opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy Lake Ontario and bringing people back to our waterfront.

  • Bring the Lakeview Pier to life, a landmark waterfront destination planned to become North America's longest freshwater pier.

Investing in Our Community

  • Complete the Port Credit Active Transportation Bridge, creating a new link for pedestrians and cyclists through the heart of Port Credit.

  • Complete the renovation and restoration of Clarke Hall, protecting an important part of our community's heritage.

  • Continue the redevelopment of the North Building at the Small Arms Inspection Building, creating more space and opportunities for artists, creators and cultural organizations.

  • Bring to life Mississauga's new Creative Advantage Arts Plan to strengthen our arts and culture community and create more opportunities for local artists and performers.

Better Transportation & Infrastructure

  • Continue working with residents, businesses and transportation partners on the realignment of Dixie Road, ensuring future changes reflect the needs of our community.

  • Advance Bus Rapid Transit improvements along Lakeshore in Lakeview, providing better transportation choices and supporting future growth.

  • Keep moving forward with the GE Booth Wastewater Treatment Plant odour improvement project to improve the quality of life for surrounding neighbourhoods.

  • Continue investing in stormwater infrastructure and environmental resilience to better protect homes and neighbourhoods.

Keeping Ward 1 Affordable

  • Maintain a firm commitment to keeping property tax increases at or below the cost of living/inflation, while protecting the services residents rely on.

  • Demand fiscal and social sustainability by finding efficiencies in service delivery and ensuring tax dollars are spent responsibly.

  • Support policies that help ensure residents can afford to remain in Ward 1, including opportunities for young people and families to find a place to call home.

  • Work to increase the supply of affordable and attainable housing, particularly for the next generation of Ward 1 residents.

Creating Opportunities for the Next Generation

  • Promote local employment and business opportunities, encouraging local hiring and procurement practices that help keep investment and economic opportunity in our community.

  • Support a vibrant local economy where small businesses, entrepreneurs, artists and community organizations can grow and succeed.

  • Continue investing in the places, programs and opportunities that give young people reasons to live, work and build their futures in Ward 1.

Protecting Our Environment

  • Continue to champion environmental innovation and stewardship, recognizing our responsibility to protect the water quality, ecology and natural environment of our waterways and Lake Ontario waterfront.

  • Build on progress in stormwater management, environmental protection, parks and waterfront conservation.

  • Make decisions that recognize that our natural environment is not simply an amenity, it is part of the legacy we leave for future generations.

Your Voice Matters

  • I believe every community, every neighbourhood and every resident has the right to be informed, engaged and consulted before decisions are made that affect their neighbourhood, family or property.

  • I will continue to listen to residents, work with ratepayer groups and community organizations, and bring your concerns directly to City Hall.

  • I will listen to and respect your values, while working collaboratively to find practical solutions to the challenges facing our community.

A Plan For Our Future

The work isn't finished.

The next chapter is about taking the foundation we've built together and turning it into an even stronger future for Ward 1.

A safer community. A stronger waterfront. Better infrastructure. Responsible growth. A thriving arts and business community. And a Ward 1 where people of every generation can afford to live, work and call home.

That's my plan for our future.
